In many cases, no. Illinois allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you may be able to schedule an evaluation without a physician referral. Some insurance plans require a referral, and I will help you determine what’s needed before your first appointment.

I offer in-home physical therapy throughout the Chicago area and virtual appointments for patients located anywhere in Illinois.

Initial evaluations are approximately 60-90 minutes. Follow-up visits are typically 60 minutes, depending on your needs.

Your initial evaluation includes a discussion of your symptoms and goals, a comprehensive movement assessment, and personalized treatment plan.

While internal pelvic floor exams can be beneficial, they are never required. An internal pelvic floor examination is only recommended when it is clinically appropriate and will only be performed with your informed consent. I will always explain the purpose of the examination, answer your questions, and respect your comfort level. You have the right to decline any part of the evaluation or treatment at any time. Decisions on internal assessments and treatments will always be made collaboratively between you and I.

At this time, I only specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy for women. I am happy to facilitate a referral to someone who treats men’s pelvic health if needed.
Orthopedic physical therapy services are available for patients of all genders.
